Volunteers Found Spending Day by the Pool‏!

Categories: Uncategorized

A small number of volunteers from Volunteer Geneva joined others to spend a day by the water on Sunday, to assist the 12h de Natation (12-hour Swim) hosted at the magnificent Colovray pool in Nyon by the Cercle des Nageurs de Nyon (CNN).

145 swimmers, ranging in age from 5 to 76 years, took to the pool to swim as many laps as they could manage, with each lap sponsored by their friends and family to raise money for Zoé4Life – an association helping families of children with cancer.

Four swimmers (pictured below with Natalie from Zoé4Life) spent the entire 12 hours in the pool, with one participant, Gaëtan (second from right) covering an incredible 30.5km – a new record for the event.

A note from the organiser:

“On behalf of the association Zoé4Life and the Cercle des Nageurs de Nyon, we thank you very much for your help for the 12h de Natation. Without your voluntary commitment, the event simply would not have happened! Again THANK YOU and WELL DONE! You find attached the press release and the results of the day. Best sports greetings, Vanni Vogel.”

The 12h de Natation is a fantastic day to be involved in – it’s a extremely well-organised event and supports such worthy, local associations. It is also rewarding to see the swimmers emerge from the pool with huge smiles as they achieve their own personal milestones while having made a real difference for others. Make sure you don’t miss out next year!
